Jim thinks in rhythm and systems. He works in computers, technology, music, and the human language. He is one of the most even-keel people I know.

We would distribute the instruments of our discipline like ipads that are distributed to every hand in our town, where children and their parents consume technology without much thought. Yet we to create with our own hands seems unreasonable... thinking it’s only for the talented or gifted.

What would happen if we were able to grab a banjo to play on the porch, like reading a book from one of those Free Libraries that folks build and put on their lawns? Take one, leave one. Preferably read it, and learn something new. Preferably play it, and inspire someone.

Our conversation led down paths that had a point, but in the way that a creator knows the big picture, but the small details, all at the same time.

It’s rare I find others that can take that journey in conversation. It is not about the weather. Nor is it about our feelings. And while it may hit on current events, it is about the historic and futuristic considerations all at the same time. We do this, because we see systems.

He calmly asks me a question: “If you could do anything, and had all the money to do it, what would it be?”

Oh… I know. Do you?
