Youth Workshops Online!

Due to COVID-19, my teaching has been moved online. I have been developing a way to use this technology to create a good experience for learners. The surprising part of this work is that I have learned that there is a connection with these students, as the classes can be small, and the group can learn to trust each other. The students can come from anywhere in the world. That is also the interesting part of this online platform.

Teaching Philosophy:

As a Minnesota based multi-disciplinary artist, I have developed a love for teaching kids about the creativity and self expression through the foundations of art and design. I also teach book binding, which is a wonderful way to practice STEM concepts.

I have over a decade of experience teaching folks of all ages, in different settings. I travel as a teaching artist throughout my region, yet reside in a small community in Central Minnesota with my 3 children. I believe that our creativity is encouraged in the earlier years, as we develop our ability to read and write, but often art skills are overshadowed by the other core subjects. I see that our art skills, which can be developed in so many ways, gives us another way to communicate our ideas, curiosities, and understanding of other subjects. Rather than assuming that art is only for the talented, I see art making as a way to see the world around us.

Fun Fact: When I was younger, I would draw out my own fashion magazines with copy paper and colored pencils. I wanted to be a fashion designer. Now I just wear painted up jeans and t-shirts. I’m no fashionista.
